COMMUNITY CENTER 2641 West 14th St. Provides alternative social activities and events. Open for use by gay groups. Meeting place for GEAR committees and rap groups.

HOTLINE Provides Community outreach through HOTLINE telephones. Acts as an information center, referral source for legal, medical, counseling and social events.

HIGH GEAR-Is responsible for the writing, layout, printing and distribution of "HIGH GEAR," which covers item of interest to the Community and is distributed throughout Ohio and in adjoining states.

EDUCATIONAL SERVICES COMMITTEE Provides speakers to Community and civic groups to explain the GEAR FOUNDATION'S purpose and services. LIGHT (Lesbians in GEAR helping together) Women's coordinating committee of GEAR. Provides two ongoing women's rap groups, "WOMEN WITH WOMEN" one which is a place to explore sexual identities and the other which is an open rap. Also provides a channel for the particular needs of the Lesbian Community to be met.

ACTIVITIES COMMITTEE Plans activities and events for the GEAR FOUNDATION.

FUNDRAISING COMMITTEE Plans. organizes and coordinates benefits, activities and events for the GEAR FOUNDATION.

OUTREACH COMMITTEE Liaison committee between the GEAR FOUNDATION and other Gay organizations on the Local, State and National level. Provides the communication channel for incoming and outgoing information between GEAR and these groups.

COMMUNITY

COMMUNITY for these first months of 1981 will be concentrating on Cleveland based groups and organizations. And to start off this month Community looks at the Foundations which makes it and HIGH GEAR possible. The Gay Educational and Awareness Resources Foundation (GEAR) is a nonprofit, tax exempt corporation of lesbians and gay men and their non-gay friends.

GEAR provides informational services to the Community through the HOTLINE (open 7-11 P.M. Monday thru Sunday at 621-3380) and HIGH GEAR (Published monthly except January). With the purchase and move to a new COMMUNITY CENTER at 2641 West 14th, GEAR has greatly expanded services to the Community.

Want to become involved? Volunteer opportunities abound in various areas. (See Foundation Committees listed at left for some of the many areas your special talents could be used.) Membership rates are available by calling the HOTLINE or write GEAR at P.O. Box 6177 Cleveland, Oh. 44101. Become a part of the action. Join us.

The COMMUNITY CALENDAR was established to serve all of the HIGH GEAR circulation area. If your group has an item they would like listed on the CALENDAR, please send the information to HIGH GEAR, COMMUNITY CALENDAR, P.O. Box 6177, Cleveland, Oh. 44101.

Specific location of event if possible, otherwise a phone number which can be called for further information. 3. Type of event. and 4. A name and phone number which can be called to verify the information received. If an organized group is submitting the information, a brief description of the group's goals and purpose would be appreciated for use in the CALENDAR'S COMMUNITY SECTION.
